Competitions and recipe

Welcome to the competitions page.

This edition of the newsletter has two competitions:

  • the colouring competition. You can either collect a colouring page from the office or you can download it here. When you’ve completed the colouring, take it in to Hello World travel at Booval Fair. You can win a double movie pass if you enter the competition.
  • a lovely bottle of blue berry infused balsamic vinegar donated by Lynette Duffy – Lynette teaches the nutrition class and will also do some origami this term.

Just tell us what the difference is between ordinary vinegar and balsamic vinegar. Send your answer to u3amarketing@gmail.com

And that wonderful recipe.

This recipe is for an apple slice served during a bus trip to Mt Tamborine.   Several people wanted the recipe so here it is. On the day I substituted a packet of frozen mixed berries from Aldi (thawed and chopped).  A friend has also made it with rhubarb.  Go ahead and create!!

Auntie Daph’s Apple Slice (Karen’s version)

Base

 1 packet vanilla cake mix

125 g butter melted

½ cup coconut

Mix together and press into a lamington tin.

Cover with large tin of pie apples.

 Topping

 1 carton sour cream

1 egg, beaten

Mix together, spread on apple.  Sprinkle with cinnmon sugar.(for the berry one, I sprinkle with brown sugar)

 Bake 20 mins on 160o C

It cuts best if you cool it first.  Also goes well warm with cream or icecream.
